Roasted Chicken in the Slow Cooker

By Jennifer Hill April 24, 2014
Just a few minutes of prep and your slow cooker are all your need to roast a whole chicken for your next family dinner!

What you need:
  • 1 Whole Chicken
  • 2 TBSP Olive Oil
  • 2 TBSP Melted Butter
  • Seasonings (I used Tony Chachere’s Original Creole Seasoning, but you can use anything – some garlic powder, chili powder, oregano, sea salt, black pepper, red pepper – really, anything you want!)
What you do:

***I highly recommend using the Reynold’s Slow Cooker Liner to make clean up a snap!***
  1. Melt butter and add olive oil.
  2. Remove the neck and gizzards, if they are inside the cavity of the chicken.
  3. Place the whole chicken into the slow cooker. Brush the outside of the chicken with the butter/oil mixture. Sprinkle with seasonings.
  4. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. If you’d like to “crisp” or brown the chicken once it is done cooking, you can stick it in the oven on broil for 5 minutes or so. Some slow cooker inserts are made to be used in the oven also, but be sure that yours is before sticking it in there!
Feel free to add potatoes, carrots, onion, celery and/or squash to the slow cooker while cooking for a complete meal.
