Review - Disney on Ice Was...

By Aviva Rotenberg December 18, 2014
Recently, I attended Disney Live! Mickey's Music Festival with my just-turned three-year-old son, and my five-year-old niece. We had a great time, although some of us had a bit more fun than others.

The show featured live actors singing and dancing to scenes from some of Disney's modern iconic children's films. Chief among them, were Aladdin and the Little Mermaid. My son, who hasn't yet watched these films, didn't seem to get too much out of this part of the show, and he seemed a bit overwhelmed by the very high volume, the darkened arena, and the ongoing theatrics. My niece, though, who is in love with princesses and the like – loved it. She recognized the songs, loved the costumes, and seemed to just get a kick out of it all. Looking around the rows of attendees, it seemed that kids in the 5 to 8 year old age range were the most dazzled.

Where the show really excelled, and what everyone seemed to enjoy, were the opportunities for audience interaction in the show. This included some dancing and singing along, a game, and some really cool special effects that added excitement and energy to and from the crowd.

All in all, it was a very successful outing and everyone enjoyed it. Once I could distract the kids long enough to move them past the enticing sales booths with expensive toys, food, lights and other paraphernalia, we returned to the car and headed home with smiles on our faces. I should have known- Mickey has yet to let me down!
