My family and I recently visited Altitude Gym in Gatineau for an afternoon of indoor climbing.
Altitude Gym brings the world of indoor rock climbing to another level and to a one-of-a-kind location. For beginners, Clip 'N Climb is climbing wall meets theme park, a stunning action packed activity with individually themed climbing challenges that provide healthy challenging fun for everyone! For more experienced climbers, they offer a rock climbing facility that uses the renowned Walltopia climbing wall surface and they offer bouldering, top-roping, lead climbing and much more!
On this afternoon we enjoyed the Clip ‘N Climb. My 8 year old and 12 year old had both visited before for birthday parties, but this was my husband’s first time climbing. After a brief safety demonstration and instruction session, and after being fitted with harnesses, everyone was ready to climb.
Housed in an old refurbished church, the Clip ‘N Climb features close to twenty different climbing options for kids of all ages. Once clipped into the spring loaded ropes, you have varying degrees of difficultly to climb up ropes, hooks, walls, poles, and other challenges.
The space is wide open, large and bright, and there are staff on site to help “hook you in” for safety.
On the day we visited, they had a full house and two birthday parties going on, but there was minimal wait times. The staff were cheerful and polite and the facility was clean.
If you are looking for a fun indoor family activity this is a great place to take the kids. This is a fun way to burn off the holiday treats, spend time as a family, and get some exercise.

* We ask that you arrive 15 minutes in advance. Sessions start every hour, on the hour (ex. 12pm, 1pm, 2pm...) and last for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
* Interior shoes only. (No climbing shoes)
* For children under 5, an accompanying parent is required.
* Minimum of one supervising adult for 6 participating children.
* A waiver must be filled out by all participants or their guardian.
