We’re excited to wish a happy early birthday/anniversary to Saunders Farm, the newest member of the Macaroni Kid family.
My family had a blast visiting last year. My eight year old ran around pretending he was Percy Jackson heading thru the mazes and my five year old was climbing and jumping and running through the pirate ship, tree house, lookouts and slides.
Saunders Farms is an agri-tourism destination and the 100-acre farm is located in Munster, very close by. There’s something really great about being outdoors and playing tag in a big open field, having a picnic under a shady tree and exploring the farm, compliments of a tractor ride. Your visit allows for great conversation about agriculture, nature, rural vs. urban and where food comes from.
Mark Saunders and his crew pull out all the stops to ensure this is top-quality family fun. Here are just some of the things they are offering this summer; 11 aMAZEing mazes, Water Spray Zone with change rooms, Maze Lookout Tower, Captain Aidan's Playful Pirate Ship, Farmer Bill's Barnyard Tree House, Wagon Rides, Puppet Shows, Trike and Tractor Trail, Fairy Gardens, 40 foot Giant Slide, Farm Shop & Bakery, Annabelle's Ice Cream Hut, The Farmer's Table, (Local Farm-Fresh Food),Century-old log buildings, Beautiful picnic sites with picnic tables and Adirondack chairs, Acres of green spaces.
What’s New for This Year?
If the above list isn’t enough, check out some of the new things planned at the Farm this season,
- 2 Jumping Pillows (large in-ground inflatable pillows for jumping)
- Saunders Mining Company (kids can pan for gems, fossils & artifacts in our 50 foot sluce. An extra cost applies)
- Pedal carts (good for any age, we're putting in a track and getting many pedal carts in time for their opening on June 4!)
Looking for ways to stay cool? A fun splash pad will be up and running. City splash pads in Barrhaven, Riverside South, and Manotick are closed for the summer, but Saunders Farm has a great one you can visit.
If you’re like my family and plan on visiting more than once this season, consider purchasing an annual pass. They’re good for the October Haunting Season as well! Some moms have a weekly playgroup at the Farm with these passes - hugely great deal for them, and a great idea!
