Check out Twice Upon a Time

Non-Profit Gives Away Books to Needy Ottawa Kids

September 11, 2014

Celebrate the return to school and nurture your child's love of reading with a visit to the pop-up bookstore run by Twice Upon a Time/Il etait deux fois.

This is a non-profit organization that gives new or gently used children’s books to Ottawa kids.  Like a food bank, but for children’s books.  Like a bookstore, but where the books are free! Through community book drives, they collect picture books, board books, early readers, novels and non-fiction in English and French for children up to 12 years of age.

This is a place where kids can choose a book of their own to take home for free. Kids up to age 12 can choose a free book in English or French.  There is a selection of picture books, board books, early readers, novels and non fiction to fit almost every reader's taste.

The store is located at Heartwood House at 404 McArthur Avenue in the Overbook.

The pop-up store is currently open on Thursdays between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Please spread the word to other parents and educators about the store.
