Safety Tree has been in educating children since 2015 and successfully runs multiple courses in Ontario and Quebec. Their Home Alone Safety for Kids and Red Cross Babysitting Courses can be delivered in French or English. Safety Tree is an authorized training partner for the Red Cross (currently 2nd in sales in Ontario) and is the leading training partner of SOS4Kids for our other children’s courses. They are also a partner of Cyber Smart Canada and deliver Cyber Safety Workshops.
Safety Tree runs their My Safe Life, Home Alone Safety for Kids the Red Cross Babysitting Course and Cyber Smart Canada Workshops in partnership with many organizations across Ottawa including Loblaws, The Real Canadian Superstores., Moncion’s Your Independent, Soloway Jewish Community Centre, Kanata Academy, Ottawa Christian School, Turnbull Private School, and Joan of Arc Academy. Programs are seven hours long and generally run on PD Days, school holidays and weekends. They also run full-day classes on school days to compliment the school curriculum.
All of their instructors must go through in-depth training and are qualified to work within the local school boards either as trained teachers, developmental service workers, educational assistants, early childhood educators or full time first aid instructors for Red Cross. All staff have up-to-date police checks and First Aid/CPR training. Instructor and course profiles are available on their website.
Each child/youth participant goes home with a certificate and one of the full colour manuals they can attend within six months of the required age. The Cyber Safety Courses don’t have manual because the information is changing rapidly. It does include access to the Safe and Sane Parent Portal and some handy take home tips for parents. Classes can also be set up for schools and organizations at a discounted rate.
