This year, Science Literacy Week runs from September 16 to 22, 2019. Across Canada, libraries, universities, museums and other partners invite you to celebrate science by offering a diverse range of activities and programs. Ottawa Public library invites you to join the fun by taking part in one (or many) of our activities. This year’s Science Literacy Week is focused around the themes of science and ocean research.

Jurassic Trivia
Come test your knowledge on paleontology and dinosaurs in a fun and interactive 60 minutes game of that will challenge every dinosaur lover in Ottawa!
This will be hosted by Jordan Mallon, Paleobiologist, Research Scientist and Section Head from the Canadian Museum of Nature.

Science Fiction Book Group

Explore science through Carleton University’s popular Science Cafés at the Sunnyside branch. Cafés are held twice a month during the fall and winter terms. Each café begins with a 20-minute talk by a scientist followed by a 40-minute open discussion period. Sunnyside branch also hosts Ingenious talks. In these talks, Faculty of Engineering & Design professors will be sharing their research with you. (Each session is a new and fascinating subject.) All are welcome!
