Ottawa Int'l Animation Festival Calls for Kids to Join the Jury

OIAF Invited Young Film Enthusiasts to Judge Animation for Kids

September 3, 2020

The Ottawa International Animation Festival is looking for local kids to enter its annual Kids Jury contest. Ranging from the ages of 8 to 12 years old, ten animation-loving children will be chosen to judge this year’s virtual competition of short films and television made for young audiences.

To be considered for the Kids Jury, interested children will have to write one paragraph about their favourite animated film. The lucky ten winners will be separated into one of two juries, to judge one of the two competitions; Animation for Young Audiences (Preschool), or Animation for Young Audiences (Ages 6-12). After an online group deliberation, they will pick their selection for the best film or TV episode and award prizes to the winning filmmakers at the OIAF Awards Ceremony.

This year, the jury members will watch their competition and deliberate together online. Each jury member will be given an OIAF AnimaPass, to watch their competition and enjoy the other family-friendly Festival programming with their families at home.

Ottawa-area kids, ages 8-12, interested in joining the OIAF 2020 Kids Jury should send an email to tish@animationfestival.ca that includes a paragraph about their favourite animated film, their full name, their age, and their parent/guardian’s name and email address. The contest deadline is 4:00pm on Friday, September 11, 2020.

The selected jury members will be contacted by September 16 with more information about how and when they will watch the films and deliberate with others.
