Ottawa Outdoor Skating Rinks Open

Confirm before you head out

November 26, 2020

Sharpen your blades and lace up your skates: Ottawa area skating rinks are open. This is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, get some exercise and have some fun with the kids.

The Jim Tubman Chevrolet Rink, Lansdowne Park Skating CourtCity Hall’s Rink of DreamsCentrepointe’s Ben Franklin Skating Rink are all open with masks required. At press time the Rideau Canal had not yet opened. Please check before you go to avoid disappointment.

Access to these outdoor refrigerated ice surfaces is on a first-come, first-served basis. Each rink has its own capacity limit, based on the size of the ice surface, to ensure all skaters can maintain proper physical distancing.

When using the rinks, think about other skaters by practicing COVIDwise etiquette and limiting your ice time to 30 minutes during busy times so everyone can get a chance to skate.

Ottawa Public Health reminds everyone that staying active is important to you and your family’s physical and mental health.

Throughout the season, visit for skating times and any weather-related closures – such as warm or rainy conditions. Residents can also download the free City of Ottawa App, available now through the Apple Store or on Google Play, to get notifications on their handheld devices.
