Get Ready for the City of Ottawa’s Recreation Registration Night!

By City of Ottawa December 3, 2020

With the winter months upon us, attention turns to activities to keep us busy. The City of Ottawa has launched their COVID-modified programs for the winter and there’s plenty to look forward to.  From swim, to dance, visual arts and outdoor activities like cross-county skiing, you are sure to find something that beats the boredom.

Registration for swim programs is now open and courses start in January. Modifications have been made to follow public health guidelines, such as low ratio classes and parents entering the water with younger children to ensure a safe two metre distance with instructors .

If you are more of the artist type then take a look at the City’s arts eGuide. There are lots of options from visual arts including painting, drawing, and pottery to performing arts such as dance, music and acting. These are offered at the City’s three arts centres, Nepean Creative Arts CentreNepean Visual Arts Centre and Shenkman Arts Centre

If you love to have fun in the snow, then cross-country and skate-ski lessons at the Terry Fox Athletic Centre are for you. Any ski level can join the fun, including those new to the sport. It’s a great way for you to get outside, enjoy the fresh air, and be active.

eGuides are live so it is the perfect opportunity to check out what classes you are interested in before registration night.

For those looking for PA day and winter break childcare, there are options available too. For children between four and 12 years-old,  explore the world of physically distanced craft making lessons, games, and special activities while developing new friendships.

All of the City programs are COVID-modified meaning that safety protocols are in place and these can be found at Ottawa.ca/recreation.

We all know that staying active is important for our mental health and the City is currently working on more winter activities that include virtual and outdoor fun. The Ottawa Recreation and Culture Facebook page is a great spot to look for updates!
