Winterlude Goes Viral, But Still Fun (and lots to see and do)

By Canadian Heritage February 11, 2021

For the 43rd edition, a new, entirely virtual experience awaits Canadians from across the country.

Inspiration, entertainment, warmth… THIS is Winterlude!

Winterlude National Ice-Carving Competition

Since 1985, Winterlude’s ice-carving competitions have welcomed artists from around the world and hundreds of thousands of visitors in Canada’s Capital Region. This year’s competition will take you across the country to meet passionate sculptors.

For the first time in its history, Winterlude has challenged professional Canadian ice sculptors to compete simultaneously in 7 cities across Canada. Each one of them had 28 hours to transform 8 blocks of ice into an artwork on the theme of the joys of winter.

Admire their creations virtually. You will have until Sunday, February 21 at noon (ET) to vote for your top 3 favourite sculptures.

The results will be announced during the week of February 22, 2021.
