I have just wrapped up my very first Mommy Connections Mom & Baby class! I am so thankful that it was an in-person class and meet other moms in the Kanata area. The class took place each Tuesday morning from 10:00 - 11:30 AM at the Rooted Family Wellness Centre in Kanata (class locations and times vary though). The Mommy Connections class environment was inviting, relaxed, and supportive. I was able to share the highlight of my week, as well as the challenges with other new moms who are going through the same thing. Each week we were also able to learn about a different topic, such as sleep (oh, so many sleep questions!) and baby-led eating from community-experts in the field. And of course a highlight of the class for every mom is when photographer, Jessica Angel, joins us for a special mom and baby photo session. We lucked out with the fall weather and were able to do our photoshoot outdoors with the nice fall colours. One of my favourite photos (I could not just pick one) from the session is now under my 'Meet the Publisher' page on the Macaroni Kid website.
The registration for the winter session is now OPEN!
There is a class for everyone at Mommy Connections. There is a 'Mom-to-Be' course. Over the course of the program (the length and formal of which varies from location-to-location), you’ll learn about topics like nutrition, preparing your body physically for childbirth, and what to expect when it comes to breastfeeding, have plenty of opportunity for discussion, and – in many cases – get to enjoy a relaxing and gentle yoga or pilates class suitable for all fitness levels.
The next class is 'Mom & Baby' which I just finished and is for babies 0-8 months old. Each week features a discussion led by a local expert and/or a fun and interactive activity for you and babe to enjoy together followed by an opportunity to chat with others at the same stage as you. There is also the 'Mini Movers' course which is for 8-18 month old children. This program is a great opportunity to learn, have fun and socialize with your crawler or early walker. We will sample 6 different mom & baby activities, like music & sensory play, and hear from interesting local presenters on topics relevant to this age group!
And there is a 'Mom & Tot' class for children 18 months to 4 years. The incredibly popular Travelling Tots program provides toddlers (from 18 months to 4 years) and their caregivers with a unique opportunity to play, explore, and make new friends. Each week, groups travel to a new location in the area to enjoy a different structured activity – from music and gymnastics to swimming and crafts. All activities are led by a local business, giving you a unique opportunity to scope out and sample the activities available in your community.
There are classes all across Ottawa so find your neighbourhood class today and register!
