Chef's Table is Back!

1 Elgin Restaurant is happy to offer the Chef’s Table series again this year, starting in July!

The CHEF'S TABLE: a farm to table feast, is a multi-weekend event of world-class chefs and great live music.

The lineup will include some of the region's most celebrated musical acts. The respective menus will be curated by our very own Chef Kenton Leier, along with several of Canada's finest, including Pascal Ménard, Connor McQuay and our upcoming resident chef, Leah Marshall Hannon. 

Genre-Bending Brazilian Pop

Formed in 2018, Gilsons is the musical collaboration of Francisco, João, and José Gil, blending influences of pop rock, samba, reggae, and Bahian rhythms, while paying homage to the classic “Música Popular Brasileira” (which translates to “Brazilian Popular Music”) of their father and grandfather, Gilberto Gil.
 
After participating in major festivals across Brazil, the trio recently graced the Sunset Stage at Rock In Rio alongside Jorge Aragão, captivating an audience of over 100,000 people. See them at the NAC this summer! 

Latin America Folklore Meets Electronica

Pahua is the project of Mexican singer, composer, producer and DJ Paulina Sotomayor; a blend of electronica and folklore that represents a very deep part of its creator: femininity, nature, inner strength and self-discovery.  

The unique blend of Latin America's folklore genres such as cumbia, corridos, and huapangos with contemporary electronic rhythms, coupled with the use of live percussion, forms the distinctive element of Pahua's music that captivates audiences. 

Bringing Tango from Buenos Aires to Ottawa

Tango, with its universal appeal, captivates people across diverse backgrounds and ages. Originating in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the Social Tango Project is dedicated to spreading the cultural significance of this dance form through performances, music, and film.  

Onstage, the narrative unfolds with ten dancers embodying the passion of tango, accompanied by musicians and a vocalist who evoke the soulful essence of the milonga. The audience is transported into the rich history and emotions of tango, creating a unique fusion of Buenos Aires within the confines of Ottawa.  

And after the performance, join Ottawa's local tango community for a post-show milonga!
